InternshipsHahn Public
|
Working alongside Public Relations professionals at Hahn Public taught me a lot about communicating with a team and with clients. I have always been aware of the importance of detail in the PR profession, but working on different projects and accounts simultaneously required me to hone in on my organizational skills and attention to detail.
Hahn manages the PR and media relations for all 800 Whataburger locations across 13 states. My projects on this account included weekly competitor reports for which I tracked openings of competing business near the 800 Whataburger locations, and reported the media coverage the openings received. I also drafted media materials and posted calendar listings to local and national community calendars and event pages to promote the many community events Whataburger hosts. Additionally, I contributed to the monthly report that includes all earned media coverage. I drafted monthly social media content for Kansas Light Service and Lubbock Light and Energy, and created criteria for the evaluation of fortune 500 companies' newsrooms for Newsology, Hahn's new digital newsroom. I value the projects and lessons I learned during my internship at Hahn, and will take the lessons and skills I learned at my intern desk into the role I step into next. Hardie's Fresh Foods
Marketing Intern
May 2016 - January 2017
Hardie’s Fresh Foods is a family owned food distributor delivering quality foods to many of the best restaurants in the Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston Areas. The company’s commitment to family values and quality are what I believe make it stand out from other food distributors.
As a Marketing Intern I not only interacted with the Marketing Team, but I also had the chance to build relationships with people throughout all departments including the people working the customer service call center, the sales team, drivers, warehouse and operations teams, buyers, and of course, local farmers and growers. I worked on the company blog, newsletter, social media and rebranding projects. I completed a retention analysis looking at 9 months of customer activity and purchases, and updated many contact lists. One of the most memorable projects I had the opportunity to work on at Hardie's assisting during a donation drop-off of agricultural materials to the ACC's Elgin Campus. The story I wrote reporting the donation was published in the Elgin News Courier that June. Click link to access company website: www.hardies.com/ |
Hispanic Scholarship Consortium (HSC)
Communications Intern
September 2015 - May 2016
HSC is a small Austin non-profit doing big things to help high school students begin mapping out their futures. During my nine month internship at HSC I formed relationships with AISD high school students, scholarship applicants, HSC Scholars, AISD faculty and staff, the Amplify Austin Community, HSC Executive Board, and HSC Donors and Sponsors.
I helped coordinate three of HSC's Latino Leader events. I was in charge of HSC’s social media accounts, which included Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Blog. I attended Amplify Austin training events and coordinated all the social media for spring's fundraising initiative. I represented HSC at other local events, coordinated the “Instagram takeover” campaign, and worked with volunteers from Houston Tillotson to promote the second annual Central Texas Signing Day through social media.
